Jackie has lectured or taught student seminars at:
Notre Dame University, Northeastern University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Alverno College, Mount Mary College, Brigham Young University, Brandeis University, University of Illinois/Urbana and others. She teaches in the MFA program in Creative Writing at Vermont College of Fine Arts.
Jackie has been a main stage speaker at literary events including:
Book Expo of America, The American Library Association, The Miami Book Fair, The Los Angeles Book Fair, Printers Row Book Fair, The Heartland Writers Society, The Chicago Public Library, The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Editors, the Virginia Festival of the Book and many others.

National Penwomen, The Junior League, Zonta, Tempo, The Northern Trust, Women Against MS,, The American Association of University Women, The Hoffman Breast Center, Mount Auburn Hospital, the PGA Golfers’ Wives Association, the American Nurses’ Association, The American Academy of Pediatrics, The Salvation Army National Convention.
Topics include healing through creativity, the conflict between work and family, the writing life, raising gifted and learning disabled children, families surviving cancer, fiction and society, politics and popular culture, and the role of libraries in American culture.
